Student Records Access and Billing (UM Pay)

Student Records

The University of Minnesota Duluth is required by law to keep student records confidential. For a list of University policies click here. Having the student sign a information release form will allow UMD to discuss your child's information with you if you call or come in person. To obtain your child's tuition and/or housing bill you need to have your child set-up an account on the UM Pay web site as an authorized payer.

UM Pay

The University has implemented an electronic billing and payment system. Bills for tuition, fees and on-campus housing are sent electronically to your child's UMD email accounts.

With this system, students can authorize a parent or other party to view and pay their bills by assigning a login name and password for each payer. When the payer accesses the UM Pay system, he or she can change the password if desired. As authorized payers, parents can transfer funds from their checking or savings account to the student account. No credit card payments are accepted.

Student - Authorized Payer Set-up

• Go to http://www.d.umn.edu/umdbo/umpay.html and click on UM Pay Student Login
• Enter your UMD internet ID and password
• Click on Authorized Payer.
• Then you must assign an internet ID and password for the third party to use. Please be aware that the ID and password are case sensitive; so you must tell the third party exactly how it was set-up or it will not work.

Parents - Accessing UM Pay

• Go to http://www.d.umn.edu/umdbo/umpay.html and click on UM Pay Authorized Payer Login
• Enter the internet ID and password on the internet login page (this will be provided by your son/daughter)
• A panel titled Message Board will come up
• On the left side, click on View Accounts, this will
  bring up the most recent bill

If you want a printed version of the bill which shows where to mail your payment click on Printed Version on the upper right side. Payments can be made mailed along with a printed copy of the bill.
